I joined Powerscourt in 2005, shortly after the business was founded, and after a 10-year spell in the City. I studied Modern Languages at Oxford and joined UBS as a graduate trainee in the Corporate Finance Division in 1994. In 1997, I switched to the other side of the Chinese Wall and worked on the European equity sales desk at Morgan Stanley during the dot-com boom. After that bubble finally burst, I moved to Merrill Lynch, again selling pan-European equities to European institutions.

My experience in the City has been invaluable at Powerscourt, whether it's advising on investor relations or interpreting company results. As a stockbroker, you have to keep a close eye on the markets, understand what events will impact each stock and put forward a convincing case to your investor clients. Similarly, in PR, you have to be constantly aware of the news that will affect your clients and how best to sell their message to the media. Working in financial PR gives you great access to senior management as you gain their trust. At Powerscourt, I am lucky to work with some of the most dynamic companies which have great stories to tell.
